When it comes to the internet and shopping for engagement rings, there are some pros and cons. You can certainly learn a lot about jewelry without having to actually walk through a store. However the internet is not the best place to buy your diamond, for several reasons.
We do recommend that you take some time to explore styles and fashion together online. The internet is packed with all kinds of different designs and styles. Take lots of notes and enjoy your time together doing the research because there are so many options out there. Doing this together will help you both decide which ring is right for you. (more…)
This is a very important time in your life and most guys aren’t quite sure how to go about selecting the perfect engagement ring. In fact it may be easier to buy a car.

Gold is the most popular option. 24kt gold is considered pure. It is naturally yellow and soft. Because it is a soft metal, it needs an alloy (strengthening metal to make it wearable). The makeup of these alloys varies and becomes a bit more complicated with white gold. We are happy to educate you more on how certain alloys could shape your decision. (more…)
The advertising world delivers a constant message that couples who get engaged are a bunch of spring chickens. Wrinkle-free, wide-eyed, and ten years from gray hair, they’re the picture perfect of new love. But in real life, not everyone fits that bill. What of old love?
Many people are marrying later in life.
For some, it isn’t their first marriage. Widowed or divorced, these betrothed know firsthand how difficult real marriage can be. So, there’s something uniquely inspirational about them taking another leap. And what great stories so many of them have!
When Kathie and Bill came into our store in November to shop for rings, both were more focused on selecting their bands than choosing Kathie’s diamond.(more…)
Much has been written over the centuries about love and a proposal for marriage, but we’re pretty sure we’ve got an original. Love fears not polar vortexes! Earlier this month, we got a firsthand look at what happens when sub-zero temperatures try to thwart a man on a mission to propose marriage.
The decision to propose isn’t always easy. Sure, there are many out there that know right away they have found their soul mate; they have found that special person who they want to share the rest of their lives with. For every one of those, there are others who have a hard time making the decision not because they do not love the person they are with…but because they are afraid of the actual act of proposing!
Eric made the decision to propose to Angie but was nervous about the ring and whether or not she would like it. There’s always some trepidation when it comes to the engagement ring. Sure, she would more than likely say yes and all would be wonderful, but would she truly love the ring? Eric had been to Goodman’s before and we had worked with him on other jewelry, but this was big. What could we do with a diamond that had been his Grandmother’s that was then handed down to his own Mother? It had to be something special since it was going to the woman of his dreams, but it was still a family heirloom.
Diamond Engagement Ring Custom Crafted using a family heirloom.
We took the diamond and fashioned a personalized ring that shared Eric’s grandmother’s and mother’s special engagement with Angie’s special day. When he proposed to Angie, she couldn’t stop crying… because she didn’t think it was actually happening? Not entirely. The ring was so unique, Angie instantly knew Eric had worked especially hard to make an heirloom her own! The custom made ring could never be duplicated even though it had special memories for Eric’s family. Now, starting their own life together, they would create special memories that would forever be intertwined.
That’s why we are Madison’s Diamond Store! We want to help you create remarkable memories!
